look at your career as moving up a lattice not a ladder…you might take a few steps to the side, one slightly lower, then another up a step…what you should consider when you are evaluating a move:
1. will I learn something new
2. will I increase my visibility
3. will I enhance my value to the company

3. Save…add to your survival fund..try to put aside 12 months expenses.
4. Network….make three new contacts and follow-up within 24 hours.
5. Cheerlead….be energetic and enthusiastic…most of all be positive

1. Shut off the “electronics” and work on getting face time with your managers and colleagues..relationships are more important than ever…show up in person more frequently.
2. Forget about work/life balance for a while…these days everyone at every level is working harder than ever..you should ask for perks only when you earn them by outstanding performance.
3. Be nice and be humble..the current times call for a change in attitude…treat everyone with respect and most of all dont be cynical, sarcastic or arrogant.
